Questions and Answers that might be on your mind.

How long are the flights from the Orillia Base?
All flights are less than 20 minutes flight time from our Orillia Base.

How much baggage can I take?
Our aircraft are limited to 650lbs, or 325lb passenger plus baggage. We carry 2 adults and gear per flight, so please plan accordingly. If guests include smaller children, we may carry 3 people per flight.

What if my baggage is overweight?
You have probably planned badly. However, if you insist on bringing more than the permitted weight, an extra flight for the overweight portion can be arranged at a cost of $275 in and $275 out. Try to pack light! Most guests bring too much!

What if the weather is bad when I arrive at your base??
It takes a pretty poor day to postpone a flight. It is extremely unusual to cancel one. Since our sites are quite close to the base, we can usually find a 'window' for safe flying. It is possible for a flight to be delayed in order that we have safe flying conditions. Relax! You’re on vacation!

Will my cell phone work?
Maybe. Lower powered handheld phones with analogue capability do work intermittently at most of our camps.

Is there a way out of the camps?
Yes. We post a map and directions out at each of our camps for emergency purposes.

What sort of food should I bring?
Bring some easy-to-cook meats and other simple foods. Lots of water is a good idea. Bring your beer in cans.
No glass bottles please!

Do I need a fishing license?
Yes. There are a number of outfitters and bait retailers in the area. We can direct you to a choice of outlets for all your needs. By the way, guests under 18 years do not require a license.

What type of lures and bait work best?
Check out Bill Rivers' articles on each site, and don't hesitate to experiment. Live bait always works best. Worms of course, leeches for sure, and frogs are great for luring those lunkers!

What does 'Catch & Release' mean?
It means only keeping the fish you intend to eat that day. Because our guests have respected this code, the fishing is fun for everyone all season long. We will not fly any fish out of our camps, and will check for suspiciously heavy coolers!

What's the deal on cleaning up when we leave?
Unfortunately Molly Maid will not call on our remote cabins, so we are totally dependant on our guests to put the equipment away and generally clean up the cabin and surrounding area. Our pilots will tell you what is expected. The old rule is: ‘Leave the site a little better than you found it’. And remember, any food or liquids that go in with you must go out with you if not consumed!

Is there firewood available?
There are lots of trees and branches lying around for campfires. Each site has a tree saw for cutting larger branches.

Can I Bring Firearms?
No, we are not licensed to carry firearms.
